Designer COR-TEN Tree Grate.  NZ made and designed tree grate to provide an architectural look to specimen trees. These are sold as a pair and are made from Cor-ten steel with a surface rust patina like at Wynyard Quarter in Auckland. The outside dimensions are 1.2 metres square with a 500mm diameter centre for the tree trunk. Corners are welded to a smooth finish. The height of the folded edges is 45mm. This integrated edge does away for the need of a separate frame and can be installed into lawns or concrete. Suitable for private gardens or public spaces. 

Made from genuine 2.5mm thick Cor-ten steel. Cor-ten rust is a protective layer. This is not just mild steel rusting away. 

The 2 halves screw together and can be placed around established trees. More could be manufactured or in different designs if required. 

The sample one shown has been filled with limestone hoggin and fitted with RGB LED lights.

A unique New Zealand designed and manufactured product that provides structure and definition to specimen trees and your garden.  A product suitable for home gardens providing a strong industrial look.  The tree grate can also be fitted with optional RGB LED up-lights to make a feature of your trees at night.

The tree grate can be installed into lawn areas or set into concrete.

We recommend filling the inside of the tree grate with Hoggin, available from most landscape supply merchants. This contrasts well against the COR-TEN and helps to prevent weeds while being permeable to allow water to your tree.

Tree Grate Dimensions

This tree grate is sized to make an impact.  This version at just a touch under 1.2 metres square will stand out in your garden or that street tree in front of your property.  There is a generous 0.5 metre central opening for a medium to large tree trunk. Other sizes, larger or smaller can be custom designed and manufactured for your specific needs. All our products are exclusively designed and manufactured in New Zealand.

The integrated 45mm outside edge makes installation easy and does not require a separate frame to be installed first.

Tree Grate Material

Made from COR-TEN steel or also known by its generic name of weathering steel is often used for architectural features or outdoor sculptures and garden art.  The weathering steel surface produces a rust like surface patina that actually serves as a natural protective layer to the base steel.  The patina develops and changes over time and produces a natural organic look. This tree grate while serving a practical function also provides a unique design element to your landscape.
